This Mental Health Month, Closer Care is bringing the Sydney community together for an afternoon of connection, conversation and inspiration, featuring Cameron Merchant as keynote speaker.
On Friday 2 October 2026, Cameron will join us at the Closer Care centre in Gladesville for our Sydney NDIS & Mental Health Month Summit 2026, as we also celebrate seven years of Closer Care.
Cameron Merchant’s Story of Mental Health and Resilience
Known to many Australians from Married at First Sight, Cameron Merchant’s story extends far beyond television.
A former professional cricketer, Cameron has spoken openly about experiencing significant mental health challenges after his cricket career and the journey of rebuilding his sense of purpose.
Today, he is a mental health advocate, speaker, coach and mentor who uses his lived experience to encourage greater openness around mental health, self-care, connection and resilience.
At our Mental Health Month event, Cameron will share his story and the lessons that helped him move forward, including insights from his book Clarity.
Celebrating Mental Health Month in Sydney
Mental Health Month is an opportunity to start conversations about mental wellbeing and remind people of the importance of connection and seeking support.
This year’s event will bring together NDIS participants, support coordinators, allied health professionals, disability and mental health providers, families and members of the wider community.
Alongside Cameron’s keynote, guests can enjoy lunch, networking, prizes and giveaways while connecting with others across Sydney’s disability and mental health community.
